Cepharanthine, is a double-benzyl isowaline alkaloid isolated and extracted from the tetragoniaceae plants. It has the functions of anti-tumor, anti-malarial, antibacterial, and immune function regulation.
Modern research suggests that it also has the functions of stimulating the reticuloendothelial system, activating hematopoietic tissue, and promoting the proliferation of bone marrow tissue. Therefore, Cepharanthine is considered to be a low-toxic and effective leukocyte-raising drug.
Cepharanthine can partially reverse the multidrug resistance of leukemia cells, and its effect is significantly better than that of the classic reversal drug verapamil.
Foreign studies have also shown that Cepharanthine has a good reversal effect on multi-resistant cells. In vivo, fenugreek can enhance the immune function of cells and macrophages.
In Japan, Cepharanthine has been clinically used as a leukocyte-increasing drug for more than a year, and there is no obvious side effect.
It has been used clinically for many years in the experimental treatment of pneumoconiosis in China.
